Pro tip: I started checking the clearance rack at my local grocery store every Tuesday morning
Last week at the Safeway on Elm Street I found a whole ribeye roast marked down to $8 because it was set to expire that day, so I froze it and now I'm wondering if anyone else has had luck asking the meat counter when they put out the discounted stuff.

Read a food blog that claimed most stores mark down meat first thing in the morning before the lunch rush, so Tuesdays are probably solid. My local Publix guy told me they usually put the clearance stickers out around 8 AM right after the truck delivery gets sorted. Worked for me twice so far, grabbed a pack of NY strips for half price last week.

Yeah I saw something similar on a budget cooking subreddit the other day. Someone said they asked their butcher at Wegmans and they confirmed Tuesday mornings before 10 AM are the sweet spot for markdowns. They figured stores do it that way because they want to move the older stock before the new shipment shows up and fills the case. I tried it at my local Harris Teeter last week and scored some marked down ground beef and chicken thighs, saved like 8 bucks. Have you had any luck at stores besides Publix?
