PSA: I switched from name brand dish soap to the dollar store stuff after a 3 month test

Kept thinking the cheap stuff would leave residue, but after comparing 5 different loads on my glasses there's literally no difference in shine or feel. Anyone else find a random brand they now swear by for everyday stuff?

5 bucks says you're gonna notice it after a couple more months. I did the same test with laundry detergent a few years back - thought the store brand was fine after 3 weeks, then around week 6 my towels started feeling a little stiff and not as clean. Had to strip them with vinegar to get the buildup out. Dish soap might be different though since it's rinsed off so fast.

Your thing with the towels is exactly what happened to me with dish soap actually. I used the cheap stuff for like two months and then realized my glasses were getting weird cloudy spots I couldn't scrub off.

My buddy Dan swore by the expensive dish soap for years and I always razzed him about it until I dog-sat for a weekend and used his Dawn. My glasses came out spotless. I went home, tried my cheap stuff again, and sure enough my coffee mugs had this weird film on them that I never noticed before. Now I'm one of those people who spends extra on dish soap and I hate that I got converted.
