Rant: I bought a $15 grocery app subscription to save money and it did the opposite
I signed up for one of those apps that shows you coupons for your local store, thinking it would cut my bill... but I ended up buying extra stuff I saw on sale that I didn't need. My total was $20 higher than usual. Has anyone else had a plan to save backfire like that?

Honestly, that sounds like a win. You paid $15 and got an extra $20 worth of stuff you wanted. The app showed you good deals and you took them. That's just smart shopping ahead of time instead of needing it later.

Just a heads up, @theac63, the math doesn't quite add up there.

Yeah, the "smart shopping ahead of time" part is key... I just buy what I know I'll use when I see a real discount. Saves that last-minute panic buying at full price later.
