Remember when coupon inserts actually had real coupons?

I was cleaning out my mom's pantry last month in Columbus and found a stack of those Sunday paper inserts from 2008. Back then you could stack a manufacturer coupon with a store sale and walk out with cereal for 50 cents. Now I open the app and it's all digital clutter, half the time the barcode won't scan at self checkout. Has anyone else noticed the deals got worse since they went paperless, or is it just me?
