Store brand cereal is getting hard to pass up

I bought a box of the generic frosted flakes at Kroger last week for $2.50 versus the name brand at $5.80. Honestly, I could not tell the difference in taste or texture. Has anyone else noticed the quality on store brands getting better across the board?

My neighbor Dave swore by name brands his whole life until his wife bought the store brand frosted flakes by accident last month. He ate the whole box before realizing it wasn't Kellogg's and said he couldn't tell a difference. Now he's converted, and his pantry is all generic stuff.

Your neighbor Dave sounds exactly like my dad. Same thing happened with him and store brand canned tomatoes, swore up and down they were different until he used them in chili and couldn't tell. Now I just tell people to start with the basics like cereal, salt, and canned veggies. The store brands are usually made in the same factories anyway, just different boxes.
