That thrift store near the old mall had marked prices higher than new stuff
I stopped by the Goodwill off Elm Street last Saturday and saw a used Keurig for $35, which is $10 more than a new one at Walmart down the road. The clerk told me they base prices on what they think people will pay, not what the item is actually worth. Has anyone else noticed thrift stores getting greedy with their pricing lately?

and my friend literally saw a stained couch there priced at $200, like who is paying that. she asked the manager and he said it's because of "vintage resale value" or whatever. i mean, thrift stores are supposed to be for people on a budget, not trying to flip stuff like a boutique.

Has anyone tried just talking to the manager about it in a nice way? I was at a similar spot last month with a marked up dresser and I just said hey this seems a lot higher than I expected for used furniture. The lady actually knocked $20 off for me, no lie. Sometimes they have some wiggle room if you ask politely instead of getting mad about it. I've also had luck going back on a different day when a different employee is working because some clerks are way more chill about cutting prices.
