Old timer at the shop told me to stop cranking injector bolts down so hard
I was always worried about leaks so i'd crank them way past the spec. He showed me 2 stripped threads on a head he pulled last week, learned my lesson real quick after seeing that.

That's rough about your buddy's snapped bolt. My uncle had a similar thing happen on his old Ford truck, except he didn't snap it - he cross-threaded it so bad the helicoil kit turned into a whole afternoon of drilling and cursing. Ended up having to use a tap and die set he bought at a garage sale for five bucks, which surprisingly worked better than the fancy stuff. Always makes me laugh how the cheap tools sometimes save the day when you're knee deep in a headache like that.
