Worst shift I've had in 5 years. Took out a DPF on a 2015 Peterbilt in Bakersfield.

Man those Bakersfield jobs are brutal, the heat alone makes everything ten times harder. DPF replacements on a 2015 are a special kind of nightmare, the access is always terrible and the bolts are usually seized up from all the soot and heat cycles. Having to drop the cab just to get at everything, or fighting with a torch under the truck in that valley sun, it's enough to make you rethink your life choices. At least when it's finally done you know it's going to be a solid truck again for a good while, even if every single one of them makes you earn it.

I mean, that part about "dropping the cab" is where I always try to get ahead of it. If you can soak those flange bolts with Kroil the night before and hit them with an impact while the truck is still warm from the morning run, they usually break free without having to heat them up. Also, I've started keeping a set of those swivel sockets just for the top bolts on the DPF, saves you from having to pull the whole cab on some trucks. Still a miserable job in that heat though.
