Gallery wall at the truck stop diner that's been there since 1987
I used to scroll through artstation on my phone during breaks, but last week I stumbled into this little diner outside Amarillo that still has framed prints from local artists on the walls. One oil painting of a twisted mesquite tree at sunset had more texture and soul than any digital piece I've seen in years. Does anyone else feel like something got lost when we stopped hanging art on physical walls?

That mesquite tree painting would make me stop and stare too.

Man, I swear hanging real art on a wall just hits different than scrolling through pixels on a phone.

Does looking at a picture on your wall really change how you feel about the art itself? I mean, I get that having a physical piece hanging there feels more permanent, but the actual art is still the same whether it's on a wall or on a screen. If you're just looking at a cheap print in a frame, that's not really any different than looking at a photo of it on your phone. The real experience is in the details and the texture, and yeah, you don't get that from a screen. But a lot of the time people are just looking at a photograph of a painting anyway, so it's kind of the same thing.
