Had a week where every single piece I uploaded got ignored

Last Tuesday I spent 6 hours finishing a detailed cityscape illustration, posted it in the showcase, and got 3 likes total. Then Thursday I threw up a quick 20 minute sketch of a cat and it got 150 likes. I don't get how this platform works at all. Does anyone else feel like the algorithm just randomly decides what to show people?

Idk, maybe it's just me but the quick cat sketch probably worked better because it felt more spontaneous and fun rather than overworked. Sometimes tight polished pieces come off as cold even if they took forever.

Read somewhere that social media platforms actually favor content that looks effortless because it feels more relatable. People scroll past highly polished work thinking "that's AI or stock" or something. The cat sketch probably felt like a genuine moment captured, like something they could have drawn too. That cityscape likely looked too perfect and distant, almost like a print rather than something made by a human hand. Grace's got a point about spontaneous work having this weird charm that calculated stuff just doesn't have.

Wait, people are actually thinking real art is AI now? That's wild!
