Hit 500 followers on my art page, but it was the 47 likes on one piece that threw me
I've been posting my digital paintings to my showcase page since 2021, mostly landscapes and character studies. Last Tuesday I checked my stats and saw 500 followers, which felt big, but then I noticed this one piece I almost didn't upload, a quick sketch of my old neighborhood in Portland, had 47 likes on its own. That's more than my last three finished pieces combined, and it got me thinking about how the stuff we overwork sometimes lands flat while the raw stuff connects. Has anyone else seen a random quick piece blow up way past their polished work?

the raw stuff connects" yeah that line really hit me because its so true. i had a similar thing happen with a dumb doodle of my cat i threw up in like ten minutes while my phone was dying, and it got triple the likes of this portrait i spent a whole week on. i think the quick stuff has this looseness to it that people can feel, like youre not trying so hard so the energy comes through better. also 47 likes on one piece is wild, that basically means your followers actually looked at that one instead of just scrolling past like they do with the polished stuff. maybe we should all just start posting our sketchbook pages and save ourselves the stress lol
