Unpopular opinion: deleting thousands of old files felt great but now I regret it
I cleared out 15,000 photos and documents last month thinking I was finally organized, but now I can't find a single reference from a project I did in 2018. Has anyone else found that some digital clutter actually serves a purpose down the line?

Wait, you deleted 15,000 photos at once?

Hang on, is losing one file from five years ago really that big of a deal? I deleted a ton of old stuff from my hard drive years ago and never once needed any of it back. Unless that 2018 project had legal or tax value, I say you're probably better off without all that digital junk slowing you down.

My buddy Mike accidentally deleted a folder with all his wedding photos from 2017. He didn't think it was a big deal at first, figured he had backups somewhere. Turns out he didn't. His wife was devastated and they spent like six months trying to recover them from the SD cards and friends' phones. They got maybe 60% back and the rest are just gone forever. He still gets a little quiet when someone brings up their wedding day. So yeah, losing old files can be a huge deal, it just depends on what you lose.
