I fought my wife over boxed mac and cheese vs homemade and lost hard
She wanted the boxed stuff with the powder pack. I spent 45 minutes making a three cheese bechamel from scratch last Tuesday. She took one bite of mine and said it was too rich and went back to the box. I ate my whole bowl alone feeling stupid. Now I just make both and let her have her orange powder comfort zone. Anyone else live with a boxed food loyalist?

Dude, you gotta learn the two pot method. I gave up on converting my husband years ago. He wants the blue box, he gets the blue box. I make my fancy mac on the side for myself and sometimes the kid will try mine. It's not a competition, it's just different comfort foods. Your wife knows what she likes and that's fine, you don't have to prove anything with bechamel. Save the fancy stuff for when you have company or just want a treat for yourself. Seriously, it makes life so much easier when you stop trying to win and just let people eat their powder cheese in peace lol.

@susanm56 nailed it with the two pot method. I started doing that with my own family and it saved so much dinner drama. My husband loves the boxed stuff with cut up hot dogs, and I do my baked mac with three cheeses on the side. The kids pick from both pots and nobody fights about it. It really stops being about proving who makes better mac and just becomes about everyone getting what they want at the table.

Right? The two pot method is a GAME CHANGER. And @sanchez.pat that's exactly how it works in our house too, everyone just grabs what they want and nobody's mad.
