I think air fryers are overrated and here's why

I got an air fryer last year after everyone raved about it, but after 8 months I went back to my regular oven. My chicken came out dry most of the time and it took up too much counter space in my small kitchen in Portland. Am I the only one who didn't see a big difference in texture or taste? What are you using instead?

Did you try adjusting the temperature way lower than the recipes call for?

Yeah I've been there. Dropping the temp by 25 degrees made a huge difference for me. I also started using an oven thermometer because half the time my dial is way off. If your edges are burning but the middle is raw that's usually the fix.

Air fryers definitely need some trial and error to get right. Lowering the temp by 25 degrees helped me too, but I also found that not crowding the basket was key. I actually prefer the air fryer over my oven for smaller meals, it heats up way faster and the texture on veggies is way better. My chicken comes out juicier than my oven ever did, maybe it's a moisture issue with your marinade or brine. Different strokes I guess, the oven has its place but I'm sticking with my air fryer for most weeknight dinners.
