I thought jarred pasta sauce was lazy cooking until I tried a local one from the farmer's market
For years I always made red sauce from scratch with a can of crushed tomatoes and some garlic - thought it was the only way. Then last fall at the downtown farmers market a lady convinced me to try her jarred sauce for $8. Threw it over some spaghetti on a busy Thursday night and honestly couldn't tell the difference from my own stuff. Has anyone else found a jarred sauce that actually legit?

So you really think a $8 jar of sauce from some lady at a market is better than making your own from scratch? I bet if you did a blind taste test with your regular crushed tomatoes and garlic, you'd pick your own every time. Those jarred sauces are loaded with sugar and salt to cover up the fact they're using cheap tomatoes that sat on a truck for a week. You can't beat the control you get from a fresh can and a few minutes of simmering.

@patriciah51 ain't the price itself the whole point though?
