Last Tuesday was my best dinner week ever

I made this roasted chicken with lemon and rosemary on Sunday and it gave us leftovers for Monday too. Then on Tuesday I threw together a 15 minute pasta with garlic, olive oil, and some leftover veggies from the fridge. My wife even said “this is better than takeout” which never happens. Has anyone else had a week where everything just comes together like that?

I feel you on that roast chicken momentum thing sean782 said. Once you nail a good Sunday dinner, the whole week just flows better because you have that base to work from. Tuesday night pasta with whatever's in the fridge is honestly one of my go to moves when I'm tired and don't want to think too hard. I'm glad your wife gave you that compliment, those little wins keep you going in the kitchen.

My buddy Mark told me once that the best meals come from using up what you already have, and your Tuesday pasta sounds like proof of that. There's something about that Tuesday night where you're not trying to impress anyone, just feeding yourself with whatever is hanging around, and it turns out perfect. I think that's how a lot of good things in life work - they happen when you stop forcing them and just go with what's there. You had that roast chicken momentum, then the fridge veggies were practically begging to be used, and your wife's compliment just sealed the whole thing. Those weeks remind you that cooking doesn't have to be complicated to be great.

Hold on, I gotta push back on that a little. A Tuesday pasta might hit the spot, but let's not pretend random fridge scraps are some kind of culinary secret. If I followed that logic every week, I'd be eating sad eggs and half a can of beans every single Tuesday. Sometimes you need a plan, a real shopping trip, and a recipe that doesn't rely on luck, @sean782. Your buddy might be wrong, actually having some structure in the kitchen beats hoping for magic from leftovers every time.
