Pressure cooker valve stuck shut, dinner turned into a science project
Last Thursday I put a chuck roast in my electric pressure cooker for a 45 minute braise. The steam valve jammed shut somehow, so the pot just sat there heating up until the burn notice kicked in. I didn't notice until I smelled burning plastic around the 30 minute mark. Had to pry the lid off with a butter knife and finish the roast in a cast iron skillet for another hour. Anyone else had a valve fail on an older model, and is it worth fixing or should I just replace the whole unit?

My old Crock-Pot Express did the same thing last year, the steam release just seized up after like 4 years of heavy use. I spent a few bucks on a replacement valve assembly online and it worked fine after that, so it was a pretty easy fix if you can find the part number. If it's a super old model though, I'd say just pitch it and grab a new one, the newer ones have better safety features anyway.
