That can of crushed tomatoes changed my spaghetti sauce forever
I used to dump in canned sauce from the jar and call it a night, but last Tuesday I tried just using a $1.50 can of crushed tomatoes with some garlic and dried basil. It tasted way fresher and less sugary, has anyone else ditched the jarred stuff for plain canned tomatoes?

Did you drain off any of the liquid from the can first or just dump the whole thing in? I feel like that would be the make or break step for thickness.

Hell yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about! I've done it both ways and honestly just dumping the whole can in gives you way more flavor even if you gotta let it cook down a bit longer. Letting that liquid simmer off makes the whole thing way thicker and richer than if you drained it first.
