My garage shelf collapse taught me to check the weight limit before stacking bags of concrete

Last Saturday I put four 80lb bags of Quikrete on a rusty metal shelf I found at a garage sale and the whole thing came crashing down at 2 AM, waking up the whole neighborhood, so has anyone else had a storage failure that made you completely rethink how you organize your workspace?

Oh man, that's brutal. At least you found out at 2 AM instead of while you were standing next to it. Something similar happened to me with a tool chest and it was a pain to clean up.

Respectfully, I gotta disagree. Finding out at 2 AM means you're scrambling in the dark, half asleep, trying to figure out what leaked. Standing next to it at least gives you a chance to react fast and maybe limit the damage. With a slow leak like that, you're probably waking up to a bigger mess anyway. Better to catch it as it happens so you can grab a towel or move stuff. Just my take from dealing with enough garage spills.

Ah man that's rough but honestly I've seen worse. A buddy of mine had a similar thing happen with a water heater in his basement, except he was actually standing right there when the thing started sweating. He grabbed a bucket and thought he had it under control, then went to bed. Woke up to a flooded garage and ruined boxes of Christmas decorations from 2005 or something. Sometimes being there just gives you a false sense of security lol.
