My neighbor Frank saw me painting trim with a brush and just handed me a 4 inch mini roller without saying a word.

Two hours of work got cut down to forty five minutes and now I can't believe I spent 6 years doing baseboards with a stupid angled brush like a caveman, has anyone else had a random neighbor just walk up and change your whole approach to something?

Read some article that said old dudes love giving out tools like unsolicited life advice.

Whoa, it's not that deep, they're just being helpful.

Wait, did the article actually say they're handing out tools or is it more like they're trying to save us from making the same dumb mistakes they made for twenty years? Because I bet Frank saw you with that brush and just felt sorry for you. My neighbor Bob did the same thing when he saw me using a cheap screwdriver on a stripped screw, he just walked over and gave me this old impact driver without a word. I think old guys have this unspoken rule where they can't watch someone struggle with a harder way of doing something if they know a better method. It's like they feel obligated to pass down the simple tricks they learned the hard way so you don't have to. Honestly, I'm grateful for it because those random tips have saved me way more time than any YouTube tutorial ever did.
