Spent $400 on a cheap laminate floor and it peeled up in 6 months
I thought I was being smart saving money on flooring for my spare bedroom. Picked up a budget laminate from a big box store for $400 total. It looked fine at first but after 6 months, the edges started peeling up at the seams. Now I have to rip it all out and replace it. The moisture in the room wasn't even bad, it just wasn't sturdy enough. I should have spent an extra $200 and gotten something decent. Has anyone else dealt with cheap flooring failing faster than expected?

Oh man, I feel your pain so much. I did the exact same thing with my basement floor, grabbed that cheap stuff from the big box store thinking I was being clever. Six months later it looked like a wrinkled potato chip, seams all popped up and edges curling. I had to pull it all up and now I'm looking at paying triple what I should have spent the first time. Silly me for trying to save a buck, but honestly who expects flooring to just give up that fast?

Heard somewhere that basements are basically moisture factories and cheap peel-and-stick just can't handle the humidity swings. Maybe it's just me but seems like a case where spending up front actually saves you in the long run.

Jumped right into that trap myself last year. Bought the cheapest peel-and-stick tiles I could find and thought I was being smart. By the time spring hit my basement floor looked like a sad puzzle with half the pieces missing. Seriously, the humidity made those tiles curl up so bad they looked like dried up fruit roll ups. Guess I learned the hard way that saving 50 bucks up front costs you 200 bucks and a weekend of frustration later on.
