That $40 tile cutter from the big box store was a total bust

Picked up a manual tile cutter for a bathroom floor project last month. Figured it'd handle the small ceramic tiles fine. First few cuts were okay. Then the blade drifted and snapped a tile right in half. Had to buy a proper wet saw for $150 instead. Should've just rented one from the start. Anyone else get burned on cheap tile tools?

Busted a tile clean in half" is such a mood... I did the exact same thing with one of those cheap scoring cutters for a backsplash. Thought I was saving money but ended up with a pile of jagged ceramic shards and a lot of choice words for the hardware store. The wet saw is definitely the move, even if it stings the wallet a bit upfront. I keep telling myself the rental fee just goes into the tool budget for next time, but I still cringe thinking about it.

Man my buddy Dave did the same thing with a cheap cutter and ended up launching a tile shard into his drywall. He said the wet saw rental was the best money he ever spent just to keep his sanity.

Saving money but ending up with a pile of jagged ceramic shards" is too real haha, I read a blog post that said cheap tile cutters are basically just for straight cuts on soft tile and nothing else. @sean782 I learned that lesson the hard way too, now I just suck it up and rent the wet saw from Home Depot for the day. The rental fee stings but it beats spending a whole weekend picking ceramic slivers out of your socks.
