That trip to Home Depot on a Sunday broke me
I went to get a new shower head last weekend (around 2pm) and the line for the pro desk was wrapped around the aisle. 30 minutes just to cut a key for a rental unit. Has anyone else given up on weekend hardware store runs?

That "line for the pro desk was wrapped around the aisle" part hit home for me, but here's the thing nobody talks about - those pros in line are usually legit contractors who actually need help. Meanwhile we're standing there for a shower head we could've ordered online in 2 minutes. Did you check if they do the key cutting at the customer service desk instead next time?

Three different stores I've been to now all said key cutting is strictly a pro desk thing, so that idea is dead in the water. Honestly the worst part is watching some guy with a single key fumble through his pockets while ten actual contractors just stare at the ceiling tiles. I feel like they should have a separate express lane for people buying one dumb item, like a self-checkout for the hopelessly unprepared. But no, we all get to stand there together bonding over our shared regret of not just using Amazon.

Yeah so I actually asked about key cutting at the customer service desk once and they looked at me like I had three heads. The lady just pointed back to the pro desk line and said "that's where we do it." So no, that doesn't work unless your store is different. But you're totally right about the contractor thing though. I saw a guy in line with a full plumbing setup for like eight bathrooms and I felt kind of stupid holding my single shower head.
