Tried doodling with a ballpoint pen instead of my usual pencil for a week

After seeing someone's before and after scrap paper sketches on here where the ballpoint lines looked way more confident than my fuzzy pencil ones, I switched for 5 days and my desk doodles actually look like something now instead of a mess of erased smudges, has anyone else had better luck switching tools just to force yourself to commit to a line?

Day 3 with a Bic Cristal and I FINALLY made a face that didn't look like a melted potato. My wrist stopped being so stiff because I knew I couldnt erase it. Pencil always made me hover and poke at the paper. Ballpoint just let me GO.

Gasped when I read "melted potato." That's such a perfect description, it hurts. I've been there with pencil, you know? That constant second-guessing where you barely touch the paper and end up with this ghost of a drawing. Ballpoints really do force you to commit, which is terrifying at first but honestly so freeing once you get used to it. I bet your face looks amazing now, like you actually captured a person instead of a vaguely human-shaped blob. Keep going, seriously, three days is huge progress.
