Changed my mind about cheap paint rollers after talking to a guy at the hardware store

Honestly, I always bought the $3 rollers until this old guy at Ace Hardware told me they shed fibers into your finish. He showed me his 12-inch Purdy and how smooth the paint laid down after one coat. Has anyone else noticed a big difference upgrading roller covers?

The Purdy covers are legit. I used to think it was just branding hype until I did a ceiling with a cheap roller and spent the next hour picking fuzz out of the paint with tweezers. Never again. Switching to a good quality 3/8 inch nap made a huge difference in how fast I could finish a room. Plus the paint just glides on way more even, so you're not having to do touch ups everywhere. The upfront cost stings a little but the time you save is worth it.

Oh man, the microfiber ones actually hold way more paint so you're not constantly reloading.

@seth_harris36 nailed it. Those microfiber rollers are the only way to go. I did a whole living room once with a regular nap roller and it was nonstop trips to the tray. Took forever. Switched to a microfiber one for the next project and it was night and day. Way less mess too.
