Finally picked a fix for my sticking kitchen drawer

I had a drawer that would not slide right for months. It was either sand down the wood or add some kind of wax. I went with the wax because I was scared of taking off too much wood and making it worse. I used a plain old candle stub, the kind you get at a diner. Rubbed it on the top edges of the drawer where it touched the frame. Did it three times, opening and closing it each time to spread it around. Now it glides like it's brand new, no more yanking or jamming. Total cost was zero dollars and about ten minutes of my time. Has anyone tried the sanding method and had it work better?

You used a diner candle... that’s actually genius. Never would have thought of that.

Honestly @elliot_barnes, that trick works because diner candles are made to burn for hours without any fuss. They're designed to sit on a wobbly table through a whole meal, so the wax pool and wick are super reliable. You don't get that weird tunneling or a weak flame like with some fancy candles. It's a perfect example of a simple, cheap thing that's already solved the problem. Makes you wonder what other everyday stuff we're overcomplicating.

The whole jar candle thing is another one. My mom buys these expensive ones that need special wick trimmers and still get that weird hollow center. The cheap ones from the grocery store burn clean every single time. It's like we pay extra for worse performance because the packaging looks nice.
