I finally saw why everyone's caulk lines look so messy now
I was helping my cousin redo her bathroom in Omaha last month and she kept using the old tube of caulk without cutting the tip small enough. It made these thick, uneven beads that just looked sloppy and took forever to dry. How do you guys get that clean, thin line without it being a total mess?

Oh man, I was totally in that camp for years. I'd just hack the tip off and go for it, thinking more caulk meant a better seal. Then I watched a painter friend do a window and he cut the tiniest little opening, like a pinprick almost. The bead was so thin and neat, and he just smoothed it once with a wet finger. It was a total lightbulb moment. Now I always cut it way smaller than I think I need, and it comes out clean every time. That thick stuff just can't smooth out right.

Right? The waste alone kills me.

Ever try to smooth out a bead that's basically a tube of toothpaste? I made that mistake on a baseboard and spent more time cleaning my hands than the actual crack, lol. Less is definitely more with that stuff.
