I thought the baking soda and vinegar drain trick was just a silly internet hack

My kitchen sink in my apartment was draining slow for a week, and I tried it as a last resort before calling the super. Poured half a cup of baking soda down, followed by a cup of vinegar, let it fizz for ten minutes, then flushed with hot water. It actually worked and has kept it clear for a month now. Has anyone else had a simple fix like this work when you were sure it wouldn't?

Actually, you gotta use boiling water after.

Wait, is that really a rule or just someone being extra? I've never done that and my stuff turns out fine. Seems like one of those things people say to sound like they know a secret. What are we even talking about, making pasta or cleaning something?

Honestly @the_wyatt is giving off serious "one weird trick" energy. Next they'll say you gotta boil the water under a full moon while facing east. Tbh I've made ramen with lukewarm tap water and it still dissolved, so the whole boiling water rule feels like making a simple thing way too hard. Some people just love adding extra steps to feel like experts.
