Just realized I've fixed 50 squeaky hinges with nothing but bar soap
Hit 50 door hinges this weekend and that bar soap trick from my grandpa costs zero dollars but saves me from losing my mind every time someone walks down the hall, anyone else got a weird fix that just works for no reason?

Oh man the bar soap thing is genius, I started doing it last year and now I can't stop - I even keep a half-used bar in my tool drawer just for squeaky hinges and sticky windows.

My aunt showed me the wax paper trick for sticky dresser drawers back in 2012 and I still use it. Just rub a piece along the tracks and they slide smooth for months, no joke. I also use a plain old pencil to grease up zippers that get stuck, the graphite dust works better than any spray I ever bought. These old school fixes are way simpler than running to the store for something expensive.

Tried the pencil trick on a zipper once. Forgot which end was which. Rubbed the sharp point instead of the side. Now I have a graphite covered finger and a jacket that looks like I sneezed on it. Still worked though. Old tricks beat new money every time.
