My father-in-law's advice on a squeaky floor saved me $150

For 6 months I had this awful squeak in my hallway near the bathroom. I was ready to call a pro and pay maybe $150 to fix it. Then my father-in-law told me to just use baby powder on the floorboards (which I thought was crazy). He said to sweep it into the gaps between the planks and walk around. I tried it last Sunday and the squeak is totally gone after just 5 minutes of work. Has anyone else tried this trick or do you have a better fix for deeper squeaks?

Wait baby powder? That actually worked? I would've bet money that was an old wives' tale or something my grandpa made up. I've heard of using talcum powder for sticky doors but never for floor squeaks, that's a wild tip. If mine ever start squeaking I'm definitely trying that before calling anyone out here.

Your grandpa knew what he was talking about, sorry you doubted him.
