Question about my garbage disposal taking forever to install

Swapped out an old disposal last Saturday. Thought it would be a 30 minute job. Three hours later I was still fighting with the mounting ring. The locking ring was plastic and kept slipping. Anyone else spend way more time than expected on a simple swap?

Nope, that sounds about right honestly. I replaced mine last year and spent a solid 45 minutes just trying to get the old mounting ring to pop off because it was crusted with that hard black gunk. Then the new plastic locking ring stripped immediately so I had to go buy a metal one. Ended up watching three different YouTube tutorials with my head stuck under the sink while my wife asked if dinner was ready every ten minutes. That "quick swap" took me like four hours and I still have a scar on my knuckle from the disposal blade.

My roommate left a half-eaten burrito in the fridge for two weeks and acted like I was the bad guy for throwing it out. Like dude, it was literally growing a new life form in there.
