Hit 100 fence posts set this weekend and I'm still standing
Honestly, I've been putting up a cedar split rail fence around my backyard in Austin for the past three Saturdays. I hit 100 posts set in concrete on Sunday afternoon and it totally caught me off guard. I started with like 20 on day one and thought I'd never finish. I just kept digging with my one-man auger and mixing bags of Quikrete by hand. Has anyone else lost count of their progress on a big project and been surprised by the number?

Did you factor in how many times you walked back and forth to get more concrete mix or fetch tools? Those steps add up way faster than the posts themselves. I bet if you had a pedometer on for all three weekends you'd be shocked at the mileage. Like, I did a small retaining wall last year and I swear I walked two miles just going from the garage to the backyard. Makes you wonder if the digging or the hiking wears you out more.

Nah, the cement bags keep you honest - those things don't let you pretend you're not suffering.

Yeah the steps really do add up. For my fence I started just bringing a stack of bags at a time instead of one by one. Saved me a ton of trips, plus I didn't feel like I was running a marathon just to get the mix. Also mixing in a wheelbarrow instead of the hole made a big difference for me, felt way less beat up at the end of the day.
