Just realized I've saved over 500 paint sample cards over the years

I was cleaning out my garage in Austin and found a whole drawer in my workbench just full of them, from every project since my first apartment. It hit me that each one represents a room, a piece of furniture, or a wild idea I had. I probably spent more time picking colors than actually painting. Anyone else have a weird DIY collection they didn't know was getting so big?

My wife finally made me sort through my own hardware jar like @hayden_nelson85 mentioned. I got a bunch of those tiny plastic parts boxes from the craft store and grouped everything by type and size. Now I actually find the right screw in under a minute, and it feels less like a hoarder's pile.

Man, that's nothing... I've got a whole coffee can full of random screws and bolts from furniture I put together over the last decade. Every time you get that little bag of extra hardware, I just toss it in. Now it's this giant tangled mess of weird little brackets and odd-sized screws that I'll never use... but I can't bring myself to throw it out.

That "giant tangled mess" is such a perfect example of how we all keep little bits of potential future usefulness. It's like we're scared to toss anything that could maybe, someday, solve a problem, even if it's way more likely to just stay in the can. I see it with old phone chargers and random cables too, just piles of "what if" clutter.
