Unpopular opinion: Tearing down all walls for open concept is a DIY mistake
I see everyone knocking down walls for open concept. I did it in my home and regret it. My living room is now always noisy during projects. There's no place to hide messy tools or half-finished builds. Storage became a big issue without those walls. I had to spend extra on shelves and dividers. In the end, separate rooms work better for DIY work.

I hear you on the storage problem, but I actually love the open space for my DIY stuff. It lets me see everything at once and I just use some bins on wheels to keep tools sorted.

Keithbutler's onto something with organized chaos. My DIY space runs on six rolling bins for different tool types. After his comment, I stopped feeling bad about the clutter. Seeing all my gear out actually cuts down on search time. I get more done because I'm not opening cabinets every five minutes. Pretty sure hidden storage is just a conspiracy from cabinet makers.

Saw a blog post once that called that method 'organized chaos.' It argued that for creative work, seeing your tools and materials out in the open can actually spark more ideas than having everything hidden away. I mean, I get the appeal of clean cabinets, but for a active project space, your bin system seems way more practical. Idk maybe it's just me but I always forget what I own if I can't see it.
