Hot take: Manual sketching isn't just busywork, it caught a big flaw in my CAD file.

Drawing it out on paper first showed a clearance issue that would've ruined the whole assembly.

Heard a podcast where an engineer said sketching on paper lets your brain catch stuff screens miss. They talked about how moving your hand makes you see problems you'd skip on a computer. It's like your mind works differently when it's not just clicking and dragging. That clearance issue you found is a perfect example of why old school methods still matter. Lots of pros swear by doing a quick sketch before even opening CAD software. Saves a ton of headache later when things don't fit together right.

Forget undo buttons, paper makes you own every mistake.

Totally agree. You see the whole picture laid out in front of you. It forces you to slow down and trace every line. I've seen guys fix a wiring diagram just by staring at their own sketch for a minute, spotting a crossed connection they missed on screen. The physical act of drawing it out makes your brain check the work twice.
