Surprised by the old drafting film trick I found in a 1980s manual

I was flipping through a vintage drafting handbook I picked up at a library sale last weekend, and it said drafting film holds ink way better than vellum because the coating bonds differently. Turns out a 1992 study in the Journal of Engineering Graphics found film reduces erasure ghosting by over 40%. Anyone else still use actual film for certain projects?

@mary_foster92 yeah ghosting is a nightmare, film is the only way to avoid that mess.

Haven't you ever had to redo an entire drawing because the eraser left a ghost?

Wait, has anyone tested if that ghosting difference holds up with modern plastic erasers or just the old rubber ones? I'd be curious if the 40% number still applies with today's materials since they're way softer.
