The fancy drafting table level I bought for $80 was a total gimmick until I used it on a sloped floor in Denver
I figured it was just overpriced hype like most boutique tools, but it actually saved me from redrawing an entire floor plan when the bubble level showed the existing slab was off by half an inch. Has anyone else found a tool they thought was useless that turned out to be the real deal on a tricky site?

My buddy had the same thing happen on a job in Golden where the floor had a weird slope. Those fancy tools feel like a waste until you're fighting a wonky slab. Glad yours saved you the headache of starting over.

Totally agree with what you said. I actually read an article from a local tile installer in Denver who said the same thing about old houses in Capitol Hill. He mentioned those laser levels are basically the only way to catch a hidden dip or rise before you start laying. @wendyk56 your contractor was spot on about Victorians too. Those old houses settle in weird ways over a hundred years. You can't trust anything to be truly level with the naked eye. Saved me from making a big mess in my own basement remodel last year.
