A rookie on the Lake Erie job asked me why we never dredge the same spot twice
We were pulling up a lot of old timber from a wreck, and he pointed at the screen showing a clean sweep, saying 'looks done to me.' I had to explain how currents shift the bottom sand overnight, making yesterday's depth useless today. How do you guys explain the constant change to new hands on your crew?

Man, it's like trying to mow a lawn in a windstorm. You finish a pass and the grass you just cut is already buried under new leaves and dirt. The bottom just won't stay still.

My uncle's dock posts need adjusting every single spring without fail.

Ever notice how nothing stays fixed, like trying to keep a gravel driveway smooth after a rain?
