That vibration sensor my buddy swore by finally paid off
I was pretty skeptical when my buddy Mike told me to put a $40 vibration sensor on my cutterhead. Told him it was just another gadget to fail. After three weeks of nothing, it started chirping at 2am last Wednesday and sure enough, the bearing was about 3mm out. Saved me a $2,000 repair and a whole day of downtime. Anyone else found a cheap sensor that actually works?

Stuck a $30 temperature probe on my dust collector motor after reading about fire risks on another forum... took four months before it saved me. Thing started beeping on a Tuesday afternoon and the motor housing was hot enough to fry an egg on, turned out the fan blade had cracked and wasn't cooling it right. Cost me like 40 bucks for a new blade instead of a whole motor replacement. I'm a believer now in cheap sensors, just gotta put them in the right spots and be patient.

Wait, hold on - you're telling me the motor housing got hot enough to fry an egg? That's insane. I've heard of motors running warm but that's straight up fire territory. I gotta ask though, what kind of probe did you get? I've been putting off buying one because I figured they were all junk or required some complicated wiring setup.
