Watch the riverbed near the old mill in Jeffersonville
We were pulling up a ton of gravel last Tuesday when the cutter head hit something that wasn't on any chart. It was a solid concrete block, probably from an old foundation, and it shook the whole rig. The impact bent two teeth on the head and cost us a full day of work plus about $2,800 in parts and labor. Has anyone else run into hidden junk in that stretch of the Ohio?

Sounds like a normal day on the river to me. That stuff is everywhere, you just got unlucky hitting it.

Yeah, Logan's right about it being normal, but man does it still sting. We pulled up a piece of steel cable last year that was wrapped around the axle like a snake. Shut us down cold. The river just hides its trash real good. You never know what's down there until you find it the hard way.
