That one Saturday in July that nearly broke me and my Civic
I was swapping the alternator on my 2002 Civic in the driveway, thought it would be a quick 2-hour job. But the bolt for the lower bracket was SO rusted it snapped clean off, and I spent the next 4 hours drilling and extracting it in the 95 degree heat. By the time I was done, my neighbor had brought me 3 glasses of water and a fan. Has anyone else had a simple job turn into a whole day nightmare?

Why do rusty bolts always wait until you're already sweating to snap off?

Did Jake ever find that tensioner bolt or is it still living in the leaf pile?

oh man that reminds me of my buddy jake trying to change the serpentine belt on his old accord, said it'd take 30 minutes tops. ended up with the tensioner pulley seizing up and having to cut the belt off with a box cutter, then he dropped the tensioner bolt into the engine bay and it rolled under the car into a pile of leaves he could never find. he spent like 2 hours on his back in the gravel with a magnet on a stick fishing for it while his wife kept yelling dinner was ready. finally gave up, ordered a new tensioner online, and had to wait three days for it to show up. by then he'd already snapped the bracket bolt trying to install the old one back. sometimes i think these cars just know when you're in a hurry and decide to mess with you.
