I finally saw how a wet sponge beats sandpaper for touch-ups
Yesterday I fixed a small patch and used a damp sponge instead of sanding. It left no dust and smoothed the mud perfectly. Do you prefer sponges for final passes on repairs?

Sponges can add too much moisture and warp the repair area. Sanding might create dust, but it allows for precise control, as hayden144 noted about skill affecting results. A quick vacuum cleans up the dust without risking water issues.

On a home repair site, they always recommend a wet sponge for final touches. It seems to work better because there's no mess from sanding dust. Do you use a specific type of sponge or just any one you have?
