Old timer on a job in Cincinnati told me to stop fighting the mud and let it work for me
He showed me how to feather the edges out light as a whisper and I haven't had a bad joint since, has anyone else had a senior guy just drop a tip that changed everything for you?

Huh, I actually went the opposite way. I learned to work cleaner so I barely need to touch the mud up at all. Less feathering, less sanding, less mess.

Man I feel you @hunt.nora. I was just listening to a podcast with a drywall contractor who said the same thing - he trains his guys to apply mud so precisely that they barely have to sand at all. It's all about consistent pressure and not overloading the taping knife. Do you use a specific technique for that final thin coat?

Less feathering, less sanding" - that's like saying less breathing, less living man.
