PSA: I had to pick between a 4-foot and a 12-foot lift for a vaulted ceiling job
I was working on a big living room in a house in Tempe, Arizona, with a 16-foot peak. The rental place only had a 4-foot Genie or a 12-foot model left. I went with the 12-footer, thinking it would save time, but moving it around the finished floors was a huge pain. Anyone have a better method for tall ceilings without wrecking the floor?

Grace607 has a point about bigger tools eating time, but sometimes the hassle is worth it. That 12-foot lift let you reach the peak safely without constant repositioning, which is the real time-saver. Protecting the floor is just part of the setup cost for doing the job right.

Honestly, the foam protector idea is smart. It reminds me of how we always pick the bigger tool hoping it's faster, but then spend more time dealing with the hassle. Like using a huge truck for a small move or a giant mixer for one batch of paint. The bigger option seems right for the job, but the setup and cleanup just eat up all the time you saved.

Heard some guys talking about using those big foam floor protectors under the wheels for jobs like that. Might help it slide easier without the scratches.
