Tried hot mud for taping instead of all-purpose and I'm never going back

I finally switched to using hot mud (20 minute) for my butt joints and the difference is night and day. No more waiting around for days for the compound to dry, I can start sanding the same afternoon. Has anyone else found hot mud way better for production work or am I just late to the party?

20 minute sets up on me mid-scoop every single time.

Have you tried the 45 minute stuff for bigger jobs? It gives you a little more working time but still sets fast enough to do two coats in a day if you hustle. I switched a few years back and honestly can't imagine going back to waiting on all-purpose for everything.

Is the 45 minute stuff actually forgiving enough for a first coat on tapered joints or does it flash up on you if you don't work fast enough? I've been burned by the 20 minute setting too quick on a ceiling repair and had to sand down hard edges... that was a nightmare. Been hesitant to try the 45 minute because I'm worried it still dries too fast for a bigger room like a 12x12 with lots of butt joints.
