Can we talk about the EBN's online directory versus the actual in-person meetups?

I signed up for the Edmonton Business Network directory a while back, thinking I'd get leads, but honestly it was pretty quiet. Then I forced myself to go to their actual breakfast event at the Matrix Hotel downtown last week and had three solid conversations before my coffee got cold. The difference was just showing up in person where you can actually read a room and build real trust. Anyone else find the face-to-face stuff way more effective for their business here?
