Choosing between the downtown and west end networking groups was a real turning point
Last fall, I had to pick between joining the Edmonton Chamber's downtown lunch group or the Business Link's west end evening mixers. Both cost about $200 a year, but the time and crowd were different. I went with the downtown group because my office is there, thinking it would be easy. After three months, I felt like I was just seeing the same people from my own industry over and over. It was helpful, but not for finding new kinds of clients. I switched to the west end group in January, and it's been a much better mix of people from different fields. Has anyone else found one area of the city works better for their networking than another?

My 401k match was the only good part.
