My website went down during the Taste of Edmonton promo
The server crashed right when we launched a big discount for the festival last Thursday. I had to call my host, WebGrizzly, and they found a traffic spike from a local news share. Anyone know a better Edmonton-based host that can handle sudden bursts?

White.blair has a point about the quick fix. I had a similar thing happen when a local blog featured my site. In my experience, staying put and asking for a better plan is the easiest path. I just told my host exactly what happened and they moved me to a plan with more resources for like ten bucks more a month. It saved me the huge hassle of moving everything. Your mileage may vary, but it's worth asking WebGrizzly first.

WebGrizzly actually handled that crash pretty fast from your description. Getting a traffic spike from the news is a good problem to have, and they found the cause right away. Maybe just ask them for an upgrade instead of switching hosts.
