Our chamber mixer was a total disaster last night
The networking event at the Chateau Lacombe had zero new faces showed up, just the same 15 people I see every month. Anyone else feel like these things are turning into echo chambers where nobody actually gets any leads?

Well, well, well. Same 15 people, same stale coffee, same forced small talk about "how's business." I've been going to these things for three years and I can recite everyone's elevator pitch from memory. Last month I spent 20 minutes talking to a guy about his accounting software while we both stared at the exit sign. These mixers are just social clubs now, nobody is actually looking to do business.

The accounting software guy is a true networking legend.

Have you tried switching up the format completely? My local group was the same way until I started suggesting we do "coffee shop speed dating" style where you only get 5 minutes per person and have to pitch something SPECIFIC. It shook things up because people had to actually ask for what they wanted instead of just talking about their accounting software. The desperate ones who just wanted to kill time stopped coming, and suddenly we had fresh faces who were actually serious about doing deals. Might be worth suggesting to the organizer next month, even if it feels awkward at first.
