Rant: A coffee chat in Old Strathcona totally changed how I view local networking

I was talking with a small bakery owner who said she stopped chasing big city-wide events and now only goes to two hyper-local meetups a month. She said, 'I get more real work from knowing ten people really well than a hundred business cards.' It hit different because I've been spreading myself too thin trying to cover every event. Has anyone else narrowed their focus and seen better results?

Common sense is just stuff you already know but stopped doing. Life changing is when you actually listen to it for once. That bakery owner probably just reminded you of something your gut already told you.

But is this really a life changing idea or just common sense?

The line between life changing and common sense is pretty thin, alice269. Most big ideas sound obvious once someone says them out loud. The trick is that common sense isn't so common when you're stuck in your own head. So maybe it's both, a simple idea that changes things because we keep forgetting it. That's why we need the reminder, even if it feels like we should already know.
